Alex Stark Lecture. Of Jaguars, Turtles, and Men: Sustainable Land Development in Mexico using Feng Shui and Geomancy

October 18, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Date: October 18, 202219:00 BST

This lecture will focus on a € 200 million land development project in the Jalisco coast of Mexico that made extensive use of feng shui and geomancy techniques not only for site planning and design, but also for the overall business, social, and political strategies involved. The extensive 1,000-hectare site includes an entire estuary system, intramontane valleys, agriculture, salt mining, and 5 miles of pristine beachfront. The project had to reconcile urban development, tourism expansion, and the local agricultural community with federally protected jaguars, turtles, and whales.

Feng Shui was an integral component of the process, using techniques that included classical land form analysis, dowsing assessments, optimal compass alignments, and Black Hat Sect rituals. In addition, native Mexican geomancers and shamans were also involved in a multi-pronged effort to sustain the local fauna, honor ancient Huichol traditions, and protect sacred locations in this complex, ecologically fragile ecosystem.
